The Pursuit of Happy-ness
The Pursuit of Happy-ness group worked to help raise the awareness of Hunger and Homelessness in their county throughout National Hunger and Homelessness Week. During the week, students at Jimmy Brown Elementary, Star City Middle School, and Star City High School were challenged to donate any non-perishable items to their homeroom teachers. These items were taken up on Friday, counted, and delivered to the Lincoln County Food Pantry. Altogether the schools successfully raised over 3,020 goods. On Friday evening, November the 16, this group brought awareness to the community with “Night without a Home” located at the gazebo on the Town Square. Citizens from the community generously donated chili, soup, cornbread, and drinks that were served to the public upon a donation. During this night there were fun activities to do such as Guitar Hero and karaoke. The project raised around $178. The group is now planning to use the money raised to help the classified homeless people in Lincoln County.
