Crossing Guard

The team made plans with Mrs. Pennington to make fliers and brochures to send home to the parents to inform them about crossing guard safety. The fliers and brochures included ways to be safe at crosswalks. The Arkansas Crosswalk law was also included in the brochure. The law states: Where traffic-control signals are not in place or in operation, the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way, slowing down or stopping if need be to yield, to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.

They are also working on a DVD showing crosswalk safety. Mrs. Pennington asked them to make something that she could show at the Elementary Open House in August. She wants to make the parents aware of the crosswalk and the importance of obeying her at all times for the safety of the children. Mrs. Pennington hopes that by making parents aware of her presence and teaching them the laws of the crosswalk that accidents will be prevented and the children will remain safe.
