Ethics Resolution

Whereas, Arkansas law provides that in limited and unusual circumstances, a school board member may do business with a local business owned by a school board member, providing that the school board passes an appropriate resolution at a legally held school board meetings, with the interested party, David Dees, not present and not voting, and these circumstances and conditions exist and have been met;

Whereas, Dees Brothers Station is owned by school board member, David Dees, who was elected in the 2007 school election;

Whereas, Dees Brothers Station is the only flat and tire changing station in Hermitage, Arkansas;

Whereas, the next closest station is 15 miles away;

Whereas, it is a better use of school personnel time and resources to purchase flats and tire changes for busses and school vehicles locally than to drive 30 miles round trip;

Whereas, historically, the district has made annual purchase of between $500 and $1000 a year with Dees Brothers Station prior to Mr. Dees' election;

Therefore, let it be resolved by the Hermitage School District, that the district may continue to do business as usual with Dees Brothers Station, provided that total annual expenditures do not exceed $4,999.99
